Leadership: Are you a leader worth following?

Leadership: Are you a leader worth following?
CEO, John M. Schapiro shares his philosophy about leadership.

Whether you’re the CEO of a multibillion-dollar company or it's day one at your start-up with 2 employees, are YOU a leader worth following?
Ask yourself these 5 questions:
1. Do you have a defined vision? A defined vision from a leader builds security and trust with employees and with investors. Employees who understand their company’s vision and find it meaningful, have higher engagement levels and are more effective brand ambassadors.
2. Can you express your vision with clarity? Great leaders understand that employees seek transparency and want to know the organization’s plans for future success. Employees also want to know how they fit into the big picture. A great leader can articulate the role each employee plays in the overall vision of the company’s future.
3. Are you a problem solver? To be a great leader, you must be a great problem solver. Great leaders know how to mediate conflict or diffuse a potentially disastrous situation. Keeping problems at bay and overcoming obstacles is essential to the growth of an organization.
4. Do you embrace change? Great leaders never get comfortable. They are always challenging the status quo and looking for opportunities to make changes for improvement, which includes taking risks, tracking progress and learning from mistakes.
5. Do you have enough stamina? A great leader is ready for a marathon, not a race. Dealing with the multitude of inevitable pitfalls and obstacles can take its toll but a great leader is prepared and remains steadfast and focused.
